places i want to visit!

One of my biggest goals before my life is over is to travel th world. I am so interested in what other countries are like, and I really enjoy learning about that kind of thing. I want to visit every continent, and go as many places that I can. To do this, I am going to either have to marry rich, make a lot of money in my career, or have a career in traveling. Whatever happens, I will make sure that I see the world. The first place I would want to go is Australia. This place look amazing! I am a complete beach girl, and this would be the perfect place for me. Besides spending time on the beautiful beaches, I would love to see all the different types of animals there like kola bears, kangaroos, and wallabies. Going to Australia would be a dream come true! I would also love to visit France and Italy. Paris is an beautiful city with places like the Eiffel Tower to visit. It just seems so romantic and place that I would have to see. I would be really interested in traveling to South Africa to see how people live there. I like learning about culture and the ways of life in other countries. The only other country I have ever visited was Mexico. My family and I went to Cancun, Mexico for spring break when I was in 8th grade. It was my favorite place ever! It was so cool to me to be in another country and see how they lived. Besides that, Cancun had the clearest water I had ever seen. My brother and I got to go snorkeling and see all types of fish and sea creatures. It was so much fun! I would love to visit Cancun again someday, or maybe even have my honeymoon there one day.

More Punk Rock

Today the video showed me some more about what Punk Rock was all about. It began to get pretty violent and weird at some points. I remember in the video it talked about a crazy band called the Sex Pistols. This band began touring in America in Atlanta and had a few incidents with some rednecks. Rednecks did not like their style of music and there were many fights that broke out between the band and the rednecks. Also, there was a strange band of girls called, The Slits. They were extremely different and out there, but many people liked there new style. Punk Rock got really nasty towards the end, and violence and songs about "F*** the World," were the new thing. This was known a hardcore punk, where to me things got a little creepy. Punk finally came to an end in the 1980s, and there was a bit of silence from Punk Rock until the early 90s. In the early 90s, the famous band Nirvana came out with its hit, "Smells Like Teen Spirit." I absolutely love this song! My brother is a huge fan so that how I started listening to them. Nirvana was an escape for teenagers and young people in America. Even though many of their songs do not make sense, the rock and roll and attitude style of Nirvana made them incredibly popular. One thing that has always kind of creeped me out about Punk Rock is that there are some lead singers that ended up killing themselves. Like the lead singer for The Sex Pistols, and Kirk Cobain from Nirvana, and even Jimmy Hendrix. Most all Punk Rockers were on drugs, and some got to such a point where they killed themselves. Many of these bands were successful, it is a shame they had to end their success so soon.

Punk Attitude

Everyone has a different definition of punk and has different views of how it all got started. I could agree with this because in the video we watched, it seemed like everyone who was being interviewed had different opinions of how things began. It was a different type of music because these bands were willing to go crazy with their music and break the rules. Some popular bands were, The Stooges and MC5. These bands open the eyes of many people in the 60s due to their political and violent ways. Many Punk bands dressed like no one had ever seen before. Punk Rock broke a lot of the rules and it seemed like a new type of music that was outrageous but people loved it. The first Punk Rock scene was in New York. A famous place for bands to play in New York was called CBGB. Over in England, times were rough and people needed an escape from the harsh reality. This is when people became rebellious and this is where punk fashion started. A new outrageous band that started in this time was the Sex Pistols. They became one of the most popular and famous Punk Rock bands. I think that the history of Punk is really interesting, because i do not ever really listen to it. It is cool to learn about other types of music and how it all began.

Rupert Murdoch

From his picture, Rupert Murdoch looks like an intelligent successful man. Apparently, this article is saying how he talks about a lot of pointless and false information. He bashes Google in this article as well. He tells people worthless information that is not true to make himself look good to the public. This article talks about how people can see right through him, and he really should not be a big deal in America. He believes that search engines like google, stole his ideas and are taking credit for it. This is completely insane, and he is just trying to make himself look good. Murdoch likes to believe that he created many inventions that are now used on the web, but obviously this is all false information. This is very annoying that he is so cocky and thinks he is the "great creator" or something. He cares about money and he thinks that Google is benefiting from apparently stealing his ideas. I'm sure google is furious or maybe even laughing at him because this is completely out of line and false. This reminds me of someone who is desperate for some attention. People like Murdoch make up rumors and try to make themselves look good by putting others down, and that is so pathetic. Bashing a successful company like Google to make himself look good is completely unfair, I hope that people put him in his place.

The Box

This review of the movie,"The Box," paints both a positive and negative influence about the movie. First of all, the review starts out talking about Kelly and how weird and bizarre some of his previous movies were. For instance, I saw his movie Donnie Darko and it was completely out there and strange. I think the only reason I wanted to watch it was because Jake Gyllehaal was in it and I think he is so hot. Anyways, the review makes the movie sound like it is expected to be weird and not too successful because of his previous films. This is why it paints a negative picture on the movie. On the other hand, the review kind of has high hopes for it. This is because Kelly says that he has made an attempt to make a normal movie in this film. The review wants the movie to be successful and hopes that maybe this movie could be a change for Kelly. This point may make people want to give the movie a chance, so it also paints a positive picture.

The plot in the movie is that a couple finds a box left on their doorstep that gives them a choice. If they open the box and push the button, they will receive one million dollars. This sounds like a good deal at first. The couple could use the money to pay for their sons school, and so that Arthur can keep his car. Of course there is a catch if they decide to open the box and press the button. A stranger will die somewhere if they push the button. This would be a tough decision. It is a lot of money, but I do not think I could do it. I could not live and know that I was responsible for the tragic death of an innocent stranger. I don't think I could live with myself.

Live.Laugh.Love

Live.Laugh.Love

These three simple words tell you exactly how you should live your life. Sometimes life can be hard and depressing, but the important thing to do is learn to live your life to the fullest, laugh until you pee your pants, and love like you've never loved before! Living your life means making the most of it. Live to learn and try new things. Live like you were dying, and live like everyday would be your last. Every one has those times in their lives where everything seems like its going wrong, you have to get back up on your feet and keep going. We should all live our lives to the fullest. Laugh your ass off!! Laughing is the best way to make anyone feel better or to get in a good mood. Laughing is one of the best things in life. Have fun and go crazy! Love people truly and deeply. Love your friends and family because they will always be a apart of your life and there for you in the end. Finding true love takes its sweet time. When you find true love, you should love that person with all that you have. Never hold back, because it is real and love is the most important thing in life. Love can take you so far and make your life feel like it is complete.

Time to Vent

Why are relationships so hard and confusing? Can't everyone just find someone perfect for them and be happy! How do you know when the feeling is right? How do you learn to trust again when someones broken your heart too many times. How many chances does it take to learn and get it right. Why is it sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same. Sometimes I just wish I knew what the future held for me. When do you realize if your waisting your time, or if your not? I believe that everything does happen for a reason, I believe that love will work out itself sometimes during my life, but break ups suck! There is no one there to save you at first. Nothing is ever simple anymore, I always feel as if I'm a looking out for him rather than looking out for myself for a change. I am sick of getting screwed over, but I have learned what love is through the good times. I have learned what it takes to push me to the limit. If someone's loves you they shouldn't treat you like shit, they should treat you like your special. When I was willing to give him another chance, why didn't he learn? Its so hard to let go sometimes, but it I know its the right thing. I need to live my life for me and not someones else. I can not let someone control me, I need to learn to love myself and realize what I deserve.

Poetry

http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/21092

The poem that I found and decided to read about was called, The Vampire. It was on the front screen of poets.com so I guess I found it because it deals with Halloween. Anyway, it is by Madison Julius Cawein and it is about a women vampire and her encounter with her. She talks about the beauty of the vampire and the colors of her dress and the surrounding environment. She gives vivid descriptions of her physical features as well, and I could really picture what she looked like. Then towards the end of the poem, the vampire bites her neck and awaits her death. The tone of the poem is mysterious and a little frightening, but also you can feel a sense of beauty about the vampire. The poem definitely had a rhyme scheme, every other line rhymed. The poet made it sound very intriguing and made me want to read more.

When I saw the blog was about poetry, I rolled my eyes and thought it was going to be so boring. I have to admit i really liked the poem and wished it was even longer. It actually made sense to me and it was not some boring poem put together with random words that had nothing to do with the title. That is what I had thought most poetry was. I do not ever read poetry unless I have to so I do not think it is that important, but that is just my opinion. Poetry is probably very important in some peoples lives. It might be a way to express feelings or fantasies. I feel like poetry was more popular in earlier days, I do not really here of people reading it as much now but I am sure it is still important in some ways.

Halloween :)

This Halloween was so much fun!! Things were different this year because I am at college, rather than at my home in Kennesaw. Usually, my family and I had some Halloween traditions we did together. Every year we always go pick out pumpkins and carve them together a few nights before Halloween. We also put up a few decorations around the house, and my parents stay at home and give out candy to the trick- or- treaters, while me and my brother go out. Around here nobody really dresses up, and there is a few parties but nothing really that exciting. But this year was a blast for me! During the week I still went to go pick out pumpkins with my family and stuff, but of course I stayed here. Friday night was the first night, and me and my friends went to the frat houses at Georgia Tech and partied all night! There were so many people there, and everyone was dressed up. The first night I dressed up as a cop. I was the best night of the weekend for me! Saturday morning we woke up and me and my roommate and our friend Aiden carved a pumpkin that was in our room. Then we all went to see Paranormal Activity, which is so scary!! After that we all rested up for another long night. That night I dressed up as a race car driver and we all went to the baseball team's Halloween party. Everyone there was dressed up too! It was great. It was the best Halloween in a long time!

My iPod

Music is a huge part of my life! I listen to music everyday, whether its in the car, in my room, or even in the shower. My iPod is my life, and I would be completely lost without it. I am getting a new one for either my birthday or Christmas this year. I have had the little blue nano one for almost three years now and somehow I have managed to break the buttons. Anyway, I love all types of music so I have everything from 50 Cent to Celiene Dion on my ipod. My three favorite types of music are country, rap, and pop music. The country artist with the most songs on my iPod is Taylor Swift. What girl does not like Taylor Swift? I could not name one! I have all her songs from both of her albums plus others. Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, and Kenny Chesney also make up probably half of the country play list. For rap music, the artist I have with the most songs is none other than Lil' Wayne. All of his songs are good, I do not really dislike any of them. I also have a lot of other artists like Gucci Mane who are really good too. Pop music is more girly, and as you can tel from my previous blogs Britney Spears is my favorite! I have tons of her songs, also Lady GaGa and Kelly Clarkson. There are other genres of music on my iPod too like rock and some really random songs. I love every single song on my iPod! Whenever I am in an bad mood, I can depend on my ipod to turn my frown upside down.

Myths and Lies

People make up all kinds of lies and myths about others everyday. Whether its in the latest issue of People Magazine, or the latest rumor in the hallway at school, lies ar told all the time. The biggest reason why I think that people tell lies are because people are jealous of others. When people make up false stories or myths about another person, they may do this because they want to see the other person made fun of or hurt. Telling lies makes that person feel better about themselves when they see the other person looked down upon. It is pretty pathetic how people act sometimes, but it is the truth. In the world of celebrities, people tell lies so that they have the latest breaking news on a celeb. A myth sort of gives you the sense that it could be true or false. You normally here the word myth, when someone is talking about something from the old days, or something bizarre and mysterious. When I here the word lie, I think that the information is completely false. There is a difference in the meaning of the words to me, and I think that many others could tell this difference as well. Nobody in today's world says, "Oh my gosh did you hear that myth about Eminem?" Everyone always says the word lie. You hear the word myth when someone says, " There is an old myth about the Indian spirits that are still around." Anyways, myths and lies are told all the time whether we choose to believe them or not.

Messed Up Stuff

So today I am going to tell a story about my older cousin, Katie. Katie is the oldest cousin I have out of my entire family. She is about seven years older than me, and has had a troubled life. Growing up, she did not have the best childhood and I think this truly effected where she is in life today. Her parents divorced when she was only six years old, and her mother began to get into drugs. After the divorce, she lived with my Uncle Steve who raised her the right way. When she got into middle school, Katie started to rebel and decided she wanted to live with her mother because her mom let her do whatever she wanted. My uncle was very upset, and this began her path down the wrong road. When Katie got into high school things go even worse. At seventeen years old, she was pregnant with her first child. She was involved in many different types of drugs and things were getting dangerous. Her boyfriend died of an overdose on crystal meth. After all this happened, Katie dropped out of high school. Just two years later, she was pregnant again with a second child. Through out all of this, she developed an addiction to meth. Today she is still heavily into drugs and has just recently had her third child. She has been in jail multiple times for possession and shop lifting. my family has tried over and over again to send her to rehab but she will not stay. She does not even want to attempt to save and change her life. My family does not know where she is these days, and we fear she will die soon. She does not even want her first two children, my uncle takes care of them. Everything is so messed up about her life. I have not seen her in almost seven years. It is so sad, and it bothers me a lot sometimes.

Stax

First of all, I have never heard of Stax Records or anything that deals with it. After reading the article and looking at the website, it appears that Stax Records was a big part of American music and influenced music in several ways. I found it very interesting that it was founded by two white people. This was weird because when i opened the article and the web page, there was a picture of a black man on each page. I immediately thought that Stax was created by a black person or group. I think that it is really unique and important that they produced music that was played by black people. This was very unique because back then there was segregation and whites and blacks disliked each other. This was one of the main influences and changes that shaped American music. Stax was music company that welcomed many artists with different backgrounds and sounds of music. It set an example for music companies by showing America that things can change and music should be excepted no matter who makes it or how it sounds.

Now for some facts about Stax Records. It was found in 1957, and was originally based out of Memphis, Tennessee. They produced different types of music like blues, jazz, gospel, funk. In the 70's Stax Records went bankrupt when CBS began to come into the picture. Stax Records will always be important to American music because of its positive influence.

Food

Today, since I am starving I am going to write about food. First of all, food is amazing! I love all kinds of food, from simple things to other types of foods. My favorite type of American food is a cheeseburger and french fries. My dad makes the best hamburgers, and sometimes I make them on the George Forman grill I have in my room, but they never turn out as good as his. My favorite fast food place to get a hamburger and fries in Wendy's or Steak and Shake drive through. I do not usually like McDonald's because their hamburgers are full of grease, but their fries are the best. Even though pizza is Italian, I would call it an American food too. I love Mellow Mushroom pizza and Pizza Hut. These places are amazing. I love ordering bread sticks with garlic sauce to go with it. One of my other favorite types of foods is Mexican. I think that it is my all time favorite. I love chicken nachos, cheese dip, rice, quesidillas, and tacos. Me and my family's favorite place to go is El Rodeo in Kennesaw. They make their food perfectly, and just the way I want it. My family goes every Friday night after work and school. Chinese always hits the spot too. My favorite it chicken fried rice and sesame chicken. It is to die for! I can't forget the egg rolls dipped in duck sauce either. That just completes the meal. I hate to admit that I ate both Mexican food and Chinese food all this weekend. I probably gained a few pounds! Italian food is not my favorite, but I do love lasagna and pasta. Finally, my favorite place to go eat for special occasions and birthdays is a Japanese Steakhouse. My favorite thing to get there is fried rice, terryaki chicken or hibatchi steak. All of these foods are amazing, and I could eat any of them right now.

Real News?

I watched the video where the Daily Show makes fun of CNN. I don't believe that this is a true source of news. People do not get the real true story on this show. The whole point of the show is to make fun of news that is going on. Sure they show clips of news that has happened that week, or bring up topics that are occurring in America, but the point is to make fun of these things. I believe that most people watch this show because its funny. I do not think people should watch this as a news source. If they want to truly get the whole story people should watch local news, or news sources like CNN. I think that it is a funny show and a way of entertainment, but I do not think that this is real news. Jon Stewart's goal is to make fun of other news sources, so this is the big obvious reason it is not a real news source! I do not ever really watch this show, but I do watch a show that is kind of like this. It is called, Chelsea Lately. She is a comedian that makes fun of celebrity news. I think that the show is hilarious, but I you do not get the whole story from her either. Just like Jon Stewart, Chelsea's whole point is to take celebrity news stories and make fun of them. She never really gives the whole, true story because her point is to make fun of them. There are a lot of these types of shows out there, and none of them are true news sources. They are just a way of entertainment.

Music

I thought that this article was very interesting and entertaining. It talked about hit songs, and how there is software that can help rate a song. In some cases it helps producers and artists, but in some cases they do not think that it is the best idea. I think it is really cool that there is software out there that can supposedly determine if a song is a hit or not. I had never heard of that before, and I wonder if it is used and trusted by artists' and producers'. This could be a good way for songs to be evaluated, and producers could determine if they need to fix or recreate the song to make it a hit. On the other hand, I could see where this would not be a good idea. Some people might think to themselves, " How is a computer going to determine if people are going to like a song?" It is all about every one's personal opinions. I do not see how a software program can rate a song, and determine if it is a good song. If artists' and producers' start relying on software programs to help them with their music, then sooner or later the computer will be controlling their music. I personally believe whatever can help make a hit is good. Maybe artists' should try the program out, or only consider using it sometimes. If it can truly help, then it is worth it. As long as artists' do not let it begin to control their music then I do not see the harm.

Art Fantasy

The video I chose to watch was about Art Fantasy. I chose to watch this video because I thought that learning about fantasy and imagination would be interesting. The video starts out talking about mixing colors together, and showing viewers where and how artists work. The man talking in the video beings to tell his story about his piece, "The Bear and the Policeman. Later, a lady begins taking us through her pieces of artwork and she tells her story about being an artist who likes to show emotions. She tells us that she likes to show spaces and lines in her art work. A lot of the artists' in the video talk about how they like abstract pieces of art and photos. After a few artists talk about their pieces of work, a man from Germany is shown in the video. He is a photographer, and he talks about how he likes to photograph objects and cities. Later, a young female artist from China comes on the video and tells us about animation and videos. I believe that the video was interesting because it shows all the different types of artists, and how they go about their work. It did not really relate their work to fantasy until the end of the video when they began talking about animation. Over all, I probably would never watch one of the videos, but I am glad I got the chance to today.

Really Famous People

Today I was watching a show on Britney Spears and how she has to live her life. She is one of the most famous people in America and the World, and every paparazzi is waiting for her to come out so they can be the next to get a picture. Yes she has had some troubled times, but when I watched this I felt so bad for her. She can not even go for a walk down the street with her kids. Paparazzi swarm her where ever she is, and they always find out where she is. She starts crying during the interview about how bad things have gotten for her, and how sad she is. There plenty of famous people in the world who are followed on a day to day basis as well. It starts out as an amazing way of life to be a celebrity, but that can all change and get old after a while. The difference in other famous people and Britney Spears is that the news reporters and media are trying to catch her doing something wrong again. They want to be the first to report her shaving her head again or driving with her kids in her lap. I just feel bad that her life has come out to be like it has. Sure some of her decisions were her fault, but we all make mistakes. You can truly see how sad and depressed she is at this point in her life. She claims that she has no social life anymore. It's all work and traveling. After watching this I thought about how happy I am that I'm not famous. It sounds like things can start off amazing and go bad.

Favorite Movie

I have tons of favorite movies, but one of my all time favorites in Man on Fire. It is about a black man who goes to Mexico to look after and protect a young girl living in Mexico City with her parents. The young girls father is a very important business man who makes a lot of money. Her parents are not always home, and they need someone to help protect her. This is because the kidnapping rate has become outrageously high where they are living. The black man name, Creasy is played by Denzel Washington. The young girl is played by Dakota Fanning. These are two of my favorite actors, and this is one of the main reasons I love the movie so much. Towards the middle of the movie the young girl ends up getting kidnapped. Through out the rest of the movie Creasy goes on a rampage and searches and kills anyone who knows anything about where she is. It is such and interesting and entertaining movie. It teaches you a lot about culture and crime in Mexico as well.

Another one of my favorite movies is A Walk to Remember with Mandy Moore. This movie is about a nerdy, christian girl and a popular boy in high school. In the beginning of the movie the girl, Jamie really gets on the boy, Landon's nerves. She warns him not to fall in love with her, and he finds her very weird. Later on, Jamie and Landon fall in love and there is a big secret that Jamie has to tell him. She tells him that she has cancer and that she does not know how long she has to live. Landon ends up asking her to marry him before she dies. It is a very sad movie, but definitely one of my favorites.

Cheap Laughs

In this article there are some phrases and words that I do not understand. Here is a list:

* purport- the appearance of being, profess or claim

*solemnity- the state or character of being solemn; earnestness; gravity; impressiveness

*disembarked- to go ashore from a ship

*hubris- excessive pride or self-confidence; arrogance

*Hannity and Colmes - was an American television show on Fox News Channel , hosted by Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes , who talked about news in a liberal and conservative prospective.

*The Daily Show- late night satirical TV show.

This article was talking about satirest and they effect our world and people. In the beginning of the article it talks about how people that are important in our country are made fun of and how it can effect how others look at them. For istnance, they talk about Sarah Palin and how Tina Fey made fun of her on Saturday Night Live. I think in some cases things like this can be funny, until they get carried away. It became a weekly thing where Tina Fey would impersonate Palin and make fun of her and ultimately make her look bad because they were not supportive of her. This can obviously effect how America looks at her, and can hurt her as a person.

Hannity and Colmes and the Daily Show are not personally relevent in my life because I never watched them, but my dad watched Hannity and Colmes quite often. I'm sure that many people who have a conservative and liberal point of view are fans of the show. These shows do effect America in some ways because it gives personal opinions and shows it's views on what each show thinks about what is going on in America.

Religion

This article is talking about how much America has changed, and that many people in America are now calling themselves "spiritual" rather than religious. Religion can influence you buy how you were brought up, or how you choose to live your life. There is so much immigration that goes on in America that new groups and cultures are coming all the time. These new religions that are brought to the U.S can influence people already living here. This article is saying that not everyone in America just calls themselves Christian anymore. New religions are everywhere, but also being atheist has become very popular. A lot of celebrities have become atheist and display this by wearing the red bracelets. This might cause fans to become atheist because they want to be like them. My family is Christian, so I call myself a Christian too. I do believe in what Christians believe. However, there are so many different religions and everyone thinks that their religion is right. I think that Islamics are weird for what they believe in and how they live their lives, but they think I'm just as weird for being Christian. Religion is something personal, and maybe there are some cases in which people do not know what to believe or how to classify themselves. Maybe this is why many Americans call themselves "spiritual" rather than "religious.

I want a Kitten!

My favorite pet in the world besides my puppy Riley is a kitten! I had a cat that lived with me since I was 5 years old until I was 12 years old. His name was Lucky and I loved that cat to death! My parents knew it was going to be hard on me when he died, and it was. Lucky was a black cat with yellow eyes and had been my best friend growing up. He is what made me fall in love with kittens and cats. Last year, I asked my parents for a kitten for my birthday and they said they would not have a problem with getting me one if I was not moving off to college. So in conclusion, I never ended up getting one. I have been begging ever since then. My grandma found a whole litter of kittens underneath her back porch a few months ago and I rushed over there when I found out. The kittens were protected by the older mother cat, and they were not tame so they would not let me get anywhere near them. My parents said if I could catch them we could keep them for a little while and try to give them away. Every time I got near one they would all runaway, it was another failure. Just yesterday, my boyfriend found a kitten in his front yard. His family has tried to ask their neighbors if it belongs to anyone but it doesn't. He says that his family is trying to give it away and I want to keep it so badly!! He is going to bring it down here today and let me see it. I know for a fact that I'm going to fall in love with it.

Comparing Articles

Two news sites that I trust are ABC news and MSN news site. I believe that ABC does a good job relaying news to the public because anytime there is an issue or breaking news, ABC alerts us. My family watches ABC and it is always around. ABC is a legit news source because I do not recall one time where I have been falsely informed of something or lied to. I believe that MSN is also a good news source for a lot of the same reasons. MSN is my home page on my computer so every time I turn on my computer I read over the MSN news. MSN always informs the public in major headlines and important news. I think that everyone has their own favorite sites and like how some relay their messages differently from others. It might be because a certain news site was always around when they grew up, or it might be because the certain news source appeals to them in a personal way. I do not really watch the news or read news sites unless there is breaking news, or there it is right in front of me like MSN. Some new sites relay their information about how they view and feel about the situation. That can effect viewers and whether they like the news source or not. Some news sites are not trustworthy because they send out false information. It is important to be able to tell the difference in good news sites and bad news sites.

Mailbox

Yesterday night I decided to go home for a little while to see my family. I was driving home and it was pretty dark out and I hit a mailbox! It was my first accident ever and I was so mad. It really was not that bad of a wreck, but my car got the worse end of it. My right mirror had hit the mailbox, and the mirror flew off and flew through the window and cracked my windshield. The mailbox was fine, it was a little crooked, and the the flag was missing. I searched for the flag but it was no where to be found. It really would not have been that bad if the mirror hadn't smashed my wind shied. That's going to be pretty expensive. What a good day gone bad. I'm going to try to go get it fixed this weekend. I feel really bad because the windshield is going to be really expensive. I told my parents they could take some of my graduation money if they needed to. There not that mad at me because my younger brother got in trouble this week for something much worse, so they don't think that hitting the mailbox is too big of an issue. This happens quite often actually, because my brother is always getting into trouble. On Friday, my dad drove by the house where the mailbox was, and no one lives there. I can't tell if this is a good or bad thing.

newspaper articles

I did not really get what we were supposed to do?

1st article:

The first article I found was in the AJC titled "Cops playing Wii on the job." This was a good example because the title instantly catches the readers attention because people are interested in why are city cops are playing video games rather than doing their jobs. The officers were caught on camera and turned in. I'm sure that people in this town were a little worried about what was going on. Police men are supposed to be on the job at all times, not playing Wii.

2nd article:

The second article I found was in the New York Times. It was called "Seeing yourself In their Light," It is a good example because it is a fashion article about how people see others and it deals with the effects of media and magazines. Body image is a big issue with young teens today. This article deals with young girls and the effects that magazines can have on them.I think that this article catches the readers attention because it is an important issue. I don't think I have ever heard of this occurring anywhere, and I'm sure it has raised a few eyebrows to many other readers out there.

Panda Picture

New born baby panda and her mother share a warm interest in each other at a local zoo in China. They are interacting with each other as visitors come from all over town to observe the new addition to the zoo. According to zoo keepers, she was born just a week ago and is in perfect health. This picture shows the mother- daughter interaction between the too. The zoo officially named the baby panda Lu-Lu. Panda bears are extinct animals so it is very important to take good care of the animals, and make sure they are living normal happy lives. It is extraordinary that people can come and observe these precious animals at the zoo. There are some Panda bears that are kept in zoos in America and other countries, but the home of the Panda Bear is in China. There are many organizations that people can join to help support the Panda Bear from being extinct. Just like any other animal, the Panda Bear deserves to live in the wild and live on for generations. This picture shows how precious the Panda is and that if we don't do something about it, they will become extinct.

Someone Else

The person's blog I chose to read was Paige because I know she wont care. From reading her posts, her writings seem to reflect the mood that she is in. One her most recent post Paige is writing about something deep, and something that she was obviously feeling that day. It is always important to get your thoughts and feeling out by writing to feel better. This is what Paige demonstrates sometime in her writing. Also sometimes she writes very long posts, or sometimes they are rather short. I think this shows what type of mood she is in and if she really cares about writing her blog entry.I think that blogs can reflect antibody's mood. Blogs are a way to get your feeling and emotion out, and to make you feel better. It works better when you get to right about your own personal life. Paige was obviously dealing with some personal issues in her life that day and needed to get them out. I hope it made her feel better because I think it does help some people. Other ways of doing this are writing in a diary or journal. I have never done that before, but I have heard that it works too. I'm sure there were other blog posts that seemed interesting about other people, but I chose to write about Paige's because it seemed like she was trying to reflect on her personal issues.

What a Day

Today was a pretty busy and crazy day. It all started bright and early at 8:00 this morning for my first speech exam, I spent most of the night last night studying for it. I hope I made a good grade. Then after that I had to rush to US History to take a quiz, and I ended up studying for about 5 min before the quiz. I felt like I did pretty well though, even though he keeps giving me B's on everything! I really don't think he likes me, because he has given me the same exact grade on every single essay I have done. It's pretty frustrating. After my busy morning, I had to go all the way to Cartersville for a doctors appointment. Cartersville is a little more than an our away. I also took my laundry home, because I still don't really know how to do it.It poured down rain the whole entire time, so of course I was late. I know it sounds gross but I have an ingrown toenail and I had to get part of it cut off today because it kills me in softball! After that I ate the biggest meal of my life at O'Charleys with my parents before I headed back here. Whenever I go home I always get my parents to take me out for a huge meal, and they always do. Now I am just sitting here waiting for the numbness in my toe to fade away, and it will probably start hurting really bad but they gave me painkillers! So I should have an interesting night.

Peace Out.

Crooked Letter State

I knew that Mississippi was a southern state, which means that it was a lot like Georgia but did have some differences. There has always been racism in the south, but I did not know what it was like in Mississippi. In this article I read that a Lebanese family was having trouble being excepted into Clarksdale. They experienced some of the same things that many black families have faced coming to the south. Racism is not as bad as it was many years ago, but it still does happen in many different places. The south is one of the main regions. Over the years, the Lebanese family have seemed o be more excepted, and people come in to eat at their barbecue restaurant. Racism still exists all over the U.S, whether its with blacks, Hispanics, or even Lebanese people. There will always be discrimination in the world, but the important thing is that it can be improved. Martin Luther King was a big part of that, and a lot has improved since those horrible times back then. I'm glad that the Lebanese family began to be excepted in the community, and that they could begin to live a normal life. I could never imagine what it feels like to be discriminated against, and I know that I would never make someone feel as if they did not belong here just because of their race.

Obama's Speech

I think that Obama's speech was a big deal because as a leader of our country, he was trying to influence the young people in our world. It was warrented because he was trying to tell students that they can't ever quit, because if they quit on their futures, they also quit on the future of America. Students that are my age today are the future, and I believe that Obama did the right thing by telling them that they need to focus on their futures. My family votes republican, and that of course influences me. I have grown up seeing things the way my parents see them. They do not like Obama and did not vote for him. I do not know very much about politics, but I believe that Obama is sending a good message here. If I was a teenager in high school who was not trying and had no future for myself, I think it would influence me tremendously if the president of the United States took the time to come talk to me about how I need to try and become something for the future. There are people who do not agree with Obama's plans for America, but I think that anyone could see that he is trying to help these teens and the future of America in this situation. After reading this article, I have more respect for Obama and I truly believe he was doing this for the better of America.

The Outdoors

This past Sunday, I spent almost all day outside at practice. When I stepped out of the car and began walking into the locker room all I could smell was the smell of freshly cut grass on the field. It instantly gave me a headache because I knew it was going to be a long and hot day. While we were stretching, I was already sweating. It felt like it was 100 degrees outside. The grass was very green and all the trees stood still, because there was not even the slightest breeze out there. There was not a cloud in the sky, so the sun was just beaming down on all of us. Practice finally ended at like 6:00. It was not a fun day to spend outside. I would have much rather of been at the beach. The atmosphere there is perfect. There is always a cool breeze blowing, and you can hear the waves roaring across the sea. But instead I was at softball practice in Atlanta, Georgia where it is always humid and hot. Just one hour into practice, our grey t-shirts were soaking wet with sweat, and we all smelt bad. Finally practice ended hours later and it was time to go shower! I got into my car and rolled the windows down to attempt to feel the wind and cool down.

Best Song!

Anyone who I'm close to knows that I love Britney Spears! I went to he concert this past spring and it was amazing! My favorite song by her is called, "Toxic" and its my all time favorite song. This is because its a fun and exciting song. It's also very catchy, I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. It's kind of old, but definitely one of her classics. Britney did have a meltdown for a few years, but who could blame her? She is one of the most famous people in the world, and she has cameras and reporters following her 24/7. I have loved her songs since the beginning and she finally made the comeback we were hoping for this year. Her CD Circus was amazing and her hits"Womanizer" and "Circus" made it to the top on the charts. She went on tour this past year too, and even went back for a second concert in many of the same cities. I knew she would not be gone forever. I don't think there is any girl who doesn't know her song "Toxic." It is definitely one of the best.It came off her best CD too called, In the Zone. People like to hate on Britney for going a little crazy, but she will always be my favorite and I will always be a huge fan!

Here's a clip.

The Crew

Having good, close friends is one of the most important things to have in life. I have some of the best friends in the entire world from high school. We all are one big group of friends that do everything together. We call ourselves the crew. There is a total of 8 of us. Four girls and four boys. First there is my best friend Kristen, who I have been friends with since 5th grade. I know for a fact that she will be at my wedding. We have been so close for so long, and we do the craziest things together. She plays softball at Berry College. Next, there is Kristen's boyfriend Bryce. He and Kristen have been together for almost a year now, and he plays soccer at Berry. Then comes Nicole, my other best friend. We were in the same kindergarten class together! Isn't that crazy. She is the definition of "dumb blond." She goes to UGA, and she is very book smart, but has NO common sense what-so-ever. Nicole cracks us up all the time! Her boyfriend Benny is also a member of our crew. He is so silly, and will do anything that we tell him to. He cracks us up all the time too, and that's why him and Nicole make such a good couple. Next, is Ryan. He's the "rich one." Me and Ryan have been neighbors and best friends since we were in 3rd grade. We always go to his mountain house, or his beach house. He's the best guy friend I have ever had. Then there is Shelby. Ryan and her both go to GCSU. Shelby is the most dependable person in the world. If you ever need to talk she is always there. My boyfriend Matt is also part of our group, and then there is me! I love my crew, and I know we will continue to stay best friends even though we are far apart.

My Home!

I am from Kennesaw, GA, its about 30 min. away from here. I live in a community neighborhood called Legacy Park that is filled with 11 subdivisions. My home is the best place in the world! When I'm not here, I live at my house with my parents and brother. My Home is the place where I can go and feel the most comfortable. I love going home to see my dog! He always is there to greet anyone who walks through the door. That one of the main things I miss. Every home has it's own smell, and I always get a big whiff of it when I walk through the door. There is not always a lot to do, but when all my friends are home that does not matter. Sometimes they all just come over to my house and we chill there. Driving through the town when I come home sometimes, always brings back memories. It makes me miss my friends even more, but we all still hangout when we come home. If I ever have a problem or just need to relax I know that home is the place to go. My family makes me so happy and I would not want to go anywhere else in the world.

I'm even going back this weekend!! :)

Randy Johnson hits a bird!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KteP6k1wg94

This is the funniest thing I have ever seen! How in the world do you manage to hit a bird with a pitch? I don't see this ever happening again in a million years! Randy Johnson will always be known for being the only pitcher to hit a bird. I have heard of birds falling on the field, or even dying, but this is the only time I have ever heard of this happening.

Well, since I do not really know how to write 250 words about how funny this clip is I'm am going to write about Randy Johnson just so that I stay on topic. Randy Johnson is one of the best and most famous pitchers in major league baseball. Most people know that he played for the Arizona Diamonbacks for many years, and the New York Yankees. He is extremely tall, and looks very intimidating on the mound. He is referred to as "the Big Unit." He is married with four children, and one other child from a previous marriage. Johnson was born in Wall Creek, California to Carol Hannah and Rollen Charles Johnson.

My weekend..

This past weekend I had so much fun! I got to go home for the weekend because we didn't have any softball, and it was my brother's birthday. I felt kind of lame going home on the first weekend, but my roommate was leaving too. So on Friday, after our sprint test I headed home and went out to eat with my family. We went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, it was amazing! After that, I went straight home to see my adorable puppy, Riley, who I missed so much! He ran to the door and greeted me! On Saturday, my wonderful boyfriend took me to the zoo, and I had a blast! I hadn't been since elementary school. I got to see all the animals, I felt like a little kid again, but I like to do stuff like that. Then that night my family and I went to Red Lobster for my brother, Max's birthday. He turned 17. I hate seafood so it was my favorite place to go, so I just got a chicken salad. Finally, Sunday came and I had some shopping to do with my mom. This was my favorite part about the weekend. I got some new clothes and shoes! I was so excited. After that I headed back to Georgia State. And that was my fabulous weekend!

A Soldiers Story

http://www.thenation.com/doc/20061211/soldiers_story

The narrative story that I found today is about an American Soldier who fights alongside of Iraqis, and how he interacts with Iraqi soldiers’ every day. This story is interesting to me because it tells the story of a soldier's daily life in Iraq. The details are so intense and it is crazy to me what he deals with on a day to day basis. To be honest, I have never picked up or looked up an article about an American Soldier because it never really interested me. Something about this story did catch my eye though. I read the first few sentences and from that moment on I was intrigued. I believe that this article is worth reading because it gives young people, like me, a better understanding about what our soldiers do for us every day.I don't watch the news, so I really don't know what goes on with the war. I have a general idea, but I don't know that those soldiers go through everyday, and I don't understand the fears they face. I will never truly understand what it is like to be an American soldier, but reading stories like these are very inspirational. There are people overseas fighting for our lives every day, and sometimes we take that for granite. I will admit that I do. This soldier uses real, descriptive details to make his story worth reading.

What I have always wanted to write about...

I have always wanted to write about a very emotional event that has happened in my life. Throughout school I have never been given the choice to write about experiences that I feel passionate about or experiences that have changed my life. For example my grandfather died of cancer about a year ago, and it was the toughest thing I have had to go through. Going through that experience changed me as a person and how I feel towards people who are going through the same thing. I feel that if I could write a paper on a personal and emotional subject like this, then I would be able to write so much about how I felt and describe details that I never could in other writings. I think that writing about this would help me to get my emotions out on paper. It could help me feel better about the situation, and could help me get out my thoughts. I know it is an emotional subject for me, but I do feel that it would be good for me and it would not make me sad. When he first past away I never wanted to talk about it or deal with it. But it has been a year now and I feel like I'm ready to get my emotions out.
